About SkinDexes

Built by clinicians, researchers and patients — for all three

SkinDexes was founded on a simple observation: the data that matters most in dermatology is generated between appointments, not during them. We built the platform to capture it.

Our mission

Closing the gap between clinic visits and real-world disease

Dermatological conditions are chronic, dynamic and deeply personal. Yet the healthcare system has historically only seen patients at fixed intervals — missing the flares, the triggers, the daily burden that defines the lived experience of skin disease. SkinDexes exists to change that. By connecting patients, clinicians and researchers through a shared data platform, we make continuous, meaningful care possible — and give the research community the real-world evidence it needs to develop better treatments.

Patient-centred

Every feature starts with the patient experience. We build tools that reduce burden, not add to it.

Clinically rigorous

Our outcome measures, data structures and workflows are designed with and validated by practising dermatologists.

Ethically grounded

Data governance, informed consent, and privacy are not afterthoughts. They are foundational to everything we build.

Open to collaboration

We work with academic institutions, NHS trusts and pharmaceutical partners to advance dermatology research.

The science

Grounded in validated dermatology research

SkinDexes is built on established, validated outcome measures used in clinical trials and routine practice worldwide. Our platform supports EASI, DLQI, POEM, PASI, etc — ensuring data collected through SkinDexes is compatible with regulatory submissions, health technology assessments and peer-reviewed research.

BSc & Final-Year Medical Student

SkinDexes was conceived and built by Lydia German — a trainee doctor who recognised a fundamental disconnect in dermatological care: the data that matters most is generated between appointments, not during them. Drawing on her earlier scientific training and first-hand experience of the clinical environment, Lydia designed SkinDexes to bridge that gap — giving patients, clinicians and researchers a shared platform built on rigorous, validated science.
